Continuing Education

“Throughout their careers, clergy shall engage in continuing education for ministry, professional development and spiritual formation and growth in order to lead the church in fulfilling the mission of making disciples for Jesus Christ.”

(¶350.1 of the 2016 Book of Discipline)

Lifelong learning is key to the growth and development of both lay and clergy leaders. Although there are no conference requirements for continuing education, we recognize that some lay and clergy leaders are required to track continuing education units (CEUs) for certification or other professional purposes.

CEUs record the educational accomplishments of an individual who completes significant non-credit educational experiences under responsible sponsorship, capable direction and qualified instruction. CEUs are not awarded for academic study and do not represent, or provide, academic credit.

If you are sponsoring an event/cohort/class and would like to offer CEUs to your participants/students, please fill out the Continuing Education Unit Sponsor Application online form.

If you have attended an event/class and would like to receive CEUs, please fill out the Continuing Education Unit Participant Application online form.

The conference offers grants for continuing education for clergy members in full connection, provisional members, diaconal ministers, and licensed local pastors. To learn more, visit the Continuing Education Grant Application.
