Camps and Retreats
We all need a place to unplug, unwind and seek God. Churches and organizations need space to connect with Creation and with each other. The Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church has four beautiful camp and retreat sites for such opportunities. At Mt. Shepherd Retreat Center in Asheboro, Camp Tekoa in Hendersonville, Tekoa Foothills in Casar, and Camp Guilrock in Reidsville you can disconnect from society. You can sit and relax and take in the beauty of Creation. You can move closer to God.

The Western North Carolina Camps and Retreat Ministry has a vision for growth that includes development of facilities and programs for all ages in an outdoor setting suitable for spiritual growth, fellowship, renewal and recreation. We believe Camps and Retreat centers are extensions of the local church. As such we are called by God to provide programs and facilities for local congregations to “plug” into so the church’s ministry may be strengthened.

Mt. Shepherd Retreat Center

The mission of Mount Shepherd Retreat Center is to provide a Christ-centered place of welcome and beauty for growth, learning, and fun.
At Mt. Shepherd we have everything you need to have the best summer ever, host a phenomenal retreat or simply get away. Our highly trained staff of college-aged Christians can’t wait to spend the summer with you.
Exciting adventure elements including Zip Lines, a 100 foot waterslide, a climbing tower, 543 beautiful acres of mountains, forest, a lake, and more! This is a fun and safe Christian environment where every child feels like they belong.
Camp Guilrock

The vision for Camp GuilRock started over 45 years ago when United Methodists from Guilford and Rockingham counties wanted to develop a Christian outdoor education and spiritual growth camp. Over the years, GuilRock has become a place where people come to experience God in a natural and relaxing environment. Our mission statement is "Discover Creation, Experience God, Grow in Faith".
Camp Tekoa

Camp Tekoa is a summer camp and conference center located in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina, near Hendersonville. Tekoa is owned and operated by the Western NC Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Tekoa offers a wide variety of summer resident and day camps for boys and girls. These include elementary day camp, and resident camps for elementary, middle school and high school students. Tekoa also offers Adventure Camps for middle and high school students.
Our mission is "Touching hearts, changing lives, sharing the light of Christ."
Camp Tekoa Foothills

Tekoa Foothills is a United Methodist Summer Camp and Retreat Center located in Casar, North Carolina. The property of 117 acres of land is filled with an abundance of beautiful nature, open fields, and hiking trails along with a swimming pool, multiple natural bodies of water, and a bamboo forest- all for you to enjoy and explore!
During the summer months, Tekoa Foothills offers day camp and residential camp to children ages 5 to 17. Campers have the opportunity to engage in exciting programs, develop life-long friendships, and learn new skills all while gaining the tools to grow spiritually in their relationship with God.
Want to plan a visit outside of summer? Lodge rentals, camping, day passes, outdoor education classes, and more are available August through May.
