Date of Death: 12/2/2023 | Date of Birth: 3/17/1931; | ClergyWe have received word of the Saturday, December 2, 2023 death of Rev. Lonnie Lewis VunCannon of Greensboro. Lewis was preceded in death by his wife, Lois O. VunCannon; son, Louie A. VunCannon; brothers, Jesse and Don VunCannon; and sister, Lila Dale Chandler. He is survived by three daughters: Crystal Nickell (Tim), Cheryl Mata (Saul), and Sondra Harrison (Steve); his brother, Carl VunCannon (Evelyn); eleven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, December 8, 2023 at West Market Street United Methodist Church in Greensboro. The family will receive friends before the service, 10:00-10:45am, in the Gathering Space at West Market UMC. Lewis will be laid to rest during a private burial service for family and close friends, at High Pine Wesleyan Church Cemetery, Ulah, NC.
