Mrs. Betty Jo Barr

We have received word of the Sunday, October 15, 2023 death of Mrs. Betty Jo Parker Barr.  She was predeceased by her husband, the Reverend Carl Benjamin “C.B.” Barr, Jr.; her parents, Chester and Susan Everhart Parker; and sisters, Mary Sheffield and Shirley Harris.  She is survived by two daughters, Yvonne Cole (Hugh) and the Rev. Angela Hollar (Mark); grandchildren: Gavin (Anne), Wes (Leslie), and Leah (Britt); great-grandchildren: Helen, Clara Grace, Amanda, Tucker, and Hayden; sister, Patsy Bunting; dear cousin, Golda Durham; and other cousins, nieces, and nephews.  A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, October 21 at 2:00pm at First United Methodist Church, 190 E Franklin Blvd, Gastonia, officiated by the Rev. Justin Lowe, Becky Greene, and the Rev. Angela Hollar.  The family will receive friends following the service in Gunter Hall.  Mrs. Barr will be laid to rest at 1:00pm at Gaston Memorial Park, 1200 S New Hope Rd, Gastonia, with the Rev. Dr. Lyn Sorrells officiating.
